Expanding access, every day
We believe improving access to medicine requires more than bringing medicines to market. It depends on reliable local manufacturing, continuous investment in innovation, strong partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem, engagement with healthcare professionals and patients, and rapid responses when communities face crisis or disruption. These priorities guide our approach to expanding access to high-quality medicines around the world.
Our five priority areas to expand access to medicine
Our global manufacturing network is a key differentiator, helping us maintain reliable supply and respond to local patient needs. We operate 29 manufacturing plants and three R&D hubs across North America, MENA and Europe.
In 2025 we invested $197 million in property, plant and equipment and continued to expand manufacturing capabilities across our regions, including new and expanded facilities in Algeria, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, the US and Europe.
Quality underpins every stage of our operations. Maintaining the highest standards of product quality and patient safety helps ensure healthcare providers and patients can rely on our medicines.
We support this commitment through robust manufacturing systems, global pharmacovigilance programmes and continuous monitoring of product safety throughout the product lifecycle.
We continue to strengthen our portfolio by investing in R&D and strategic partnerships that help bring complex, differentiated and high-value medicines to patients.
In 2025, we invested $151 million in R&D, launched 84 products and secured 99 approvals across our markets. We also unified our R&D capabilities across our global technology platforms to accelerate development and support future patient needs.
Improving access to medicines also means supporting healthcare professionals, patients and healthcare systems with the knowledge and resources they need to improve outcomes.
Across MENA, we engage healthcare professionals through scientific forums, training programmes and disease awareness initiatives. Through our patient engagement activities and platforms, we help raise awareness of disease prevention, treatment and healthy living.
We work with trusted partners to provide medicine donations, healthcare support and emergency assistance for vulnerable communities and people affected by crisis.
In 2025, we donated $2.6 million worth of medicines and supported humanitarian programmes through organisations including Direct Relief, Americares, Global Smile Foundation and the National Children's Cancer Society.
Affirming the human right to health
We recognise the critical role of pharmaceutical companies in working within the healthcare ecosystem to make the right to high quality, affordable medicines attainable to all. In our recently published Human Rights Statement, we affirm the fundamental human right to the highest attainable standard of health, and consider our primary contribution in promoting this right to be increasing the accessibility and affordability of our medicines and ensuring that we manufacture and package our products in accordance with the highest quality standards, while maintaining the success of our business.
Governance of access to medicine
Oversight of our approach to AtM is held at the Board level, with input from an executive-level Access to Medicine Committee. The committee ensures that various functions across the business such as commercial, operations, R&D, business development and others are aligned on our objective to ensure high-quality medicines are accessible in our markets to those that need them.
