Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Hikma
Every October, our teams across the EU, US, and MENA regions unite with a shared purpose: to support women and families affected by breast cancer. This year was no exception. Colleagues across 14 countries came together to deliver impactful programmes that strengthened healthcare infrastructure, raised awareness in local communities, and provided direct support to those impacted.
At Hikma, advancing health and wellbeing by improving access to medicines and treatments is central to our strategy, and this commitment drove our October initiatives.
- Egypt: We proudly funded and equipped a new Surgical Clinic Room at Baheya Hospital, enhancing its capacity to detect, treat, and provide post-operative care for women living with breast cancer.
- Italy: Experts and patient advocates led a joint session on mental wellbeing and follow-up care, supported by a donation to ANDOS di Milano ODV to fund ongoing patient services.
- Morocco: In partnership with Dar Zhor Association, we offered free mammograms and personalised consultations to women in Hay Hassani, Casablanca.
- Iraq: Our teams in Baghdad’s Al Yarmouk district led awareness sessions and community screenings for women with limited access to healthcare.
- Saudi Arabia: Alongside financial contributions to Zahra Association, Hikma volunteers joined the Zahra Community Marathon and organised hybrid awareness sessions, offering free clinical exams and mammograms.
- Jordan: At the Samih Darwazeh Centre, we hosted a clinical awareness panel and health checks, complemented by emotional support activities including art therapy workshops and a survivor brunch.
- Algeria: Over 100 employees participated in a Pink Day with Al Badr Association, blending wellness activities like yoga and Zumba with survivor storytelling and on-site consultations.
- Tunisia: 94 colleagues volunteered alongside ATAMCS gynaecologists to deliver internal awareness sessions and screenings in Sidi Thabet.
- Portugal: Focused on prevention, our teams hosted screening sessions, and a 5 km charity walk to promote healthy lifestyles and solidarity.
- UK, Germany, US and Canada: Teams reinforced the message through Wear Pink Day events, informal talks, HOPE kit packing sessions, and charity runs encouraging open conversations about breast health and the importance of regular self-checks.
Partnerships are key to delivering sustainable community health programmes. Collaborating with organisations such as Baheya Hospital, ATAMCS, Zahra Association, the King Hussein Cancer Foundation, and local NGOs allowed us to help support more people in our communities. This ensured that resources including funding, volunteers, or equipment, were directed where they could have the greatest impact, from screening camps to subsidised treatments.
This year’s initiatives reached over 4,000 people, and we are proud of the efforts of all of our teams. Just as importantly, they reflected our purpose at Hikma: to put better health within reach, every day.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month reminds us that our actions can make a difference. and when our employees, partners, and communities come together, we build stronger, more resilient futures for all.
