London, 16 September 2025
In this series, we spotlight inspiring women at Hikma, sharing their career journeys and employee testimonials. Through insights, experiences, and leadership advice, they offer a powerful glimpse into life at Hikma and the values that drive their success.
How did you start your career at Hikma?
I started at Hikma right after graduating from college, working as a temp employee. For about four years, I moved across different departments, learning, adapting, and building a foundation. Eventually, I was hired into a permanent role in the validation group, and from there, I transitioned into operations as an investigation writer.
That led to a role as a manufacturing specialist, where I learned a lot and assisted to run our filling operations. Over the next few years, I moved into a supervisor role, and my responsibilities kept expanding. I later became associate director of manufacturing, and last year, I stepped into the associate director of validations role. Every step has been a new challenge, and a new opportunity to grow.
How have you found this latest transition back into validation, but now in a senior role?
It’s been a really exciting shift. Coming back into validation, after working in operations, has brought a new level of responsibility and perspective.
What’s been interesting is how much I’ve grown since I was last in this space. With more of an understanding of plant operations, I’m approaching things with more clarity, and a better understanding of how validation connects to the wider business. It’s stretching me in new ways, and while it’s a challenge, it’s also incredibly rewarding. This transition has reminded me that growth doesn’t stop, it just evolves.
Tell us about a standout moment during your career
I’ve always been proud of what we do here at Hikma, but one moment that truly stands out is how we came together during COVID. It was a time filled with uncertainty, fear, and disruption, but inside our walls, there was a remarkable sense of unity and purpose. We didn’t just keep operations running, we supported each other, adapted quickly, and stayed focused on what mattered most…getting essential medicines to patients who needed them. People showed up and stepped up to keep things going.
That period tested all of us, professionally and personally. But it also revealed the strength of our teams and the depth of our commitment. It wasn’t just about maintaining production, it was about showing up for one another, solving problems together, and never losing sight of the impact we have beyond our doors.
It reminded me that this industry isn’t just about products or processes, it’s about people. That’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly, and it’s something I carry with me every single day.
What helps you keep motivated through the workday?
Honestly, it’s the people I work with. That’s a huge part of it. When you’re surrounded by a team that’s supportive, collaborative, and genuinely wants to do a good job, it makes everything easier, even the tough days. I’ve been lucky to work with people who care about the work and care about each other, and that creates an environment where you want to show up and give your best. You spend a lot of time at work, so enjoying the people around you really matters. It’s what keeps me going, keeps me focused, and makes the day feel purposeful. That sense of team and that we’re all in it together, is something I value.
What advice would you give to someone starting their career?
When I first started, I had a very different idea of what my career would look like. But working here in Cherry Hill at Hikma, I’ve seen just how broad this industry really is. From manufacturing and quality to chemistry testing and sales, there’s so much happening under one roof, and so many directions you can grow in.
My advice would be: don’t box yourself in too early. You might think you know exactly where you want to end up, but sometimes the best opportunities come from places you didn’t expect. Be open to trying new things, even if they’re outside your comfort zone. That’s how you learn what really fits, and how you find the path that’s right for you.
Was there a pivotal moment in your journey?
One of the biggest turning points for me was being asked to join the manufacturing team as a specialist. At the time, I hadn’t seen that potential in myself yet, but the head of operations did. He saw something in me that I hadn’t recognised, and he gave me the push I needed. While working with him over the next years, he encouraged me to speak up in meetings, take ownership of my work, and step into a more visible role.
That kind of mentorship made a huge difference. It was about someone believing in me before I believed in myself. That moment changed the way I saw my own capabilities and gave me the confidence to grow into leadership. Sometimes, all it takes is one person to say, “You’ve got this,” and suddenly, you start to believe it too. In my leadership roles, I try to follow in his footsteps and encourage those around me the same way he did for me.
What fuels your passion for the work you do?
I’m driven by a desire to do things well. I hold myself to a high standard, and I want my work to be recognised as impactful. I’m proud that I can provide for my family through meaningful work, and above all, I take seriously the responsibility we have to ensure our medicines are made to the highest quality for our patients. That’s what motivates me every day.
