Meet Rand Alsaber, Principal Scientist, Amman, Jordan
1. What is your name, role, and location?
I am Rand Alsaber, and I work as a Principal Scientist in the MENA Clinical Research Department, based in Amman, Jordan.
2. Could you tell us about your day-to-day activities?
In my role, I manage clinical studies – including bioequivalence trials. This means I'm involved from the ground up: designing the studies, overseeing all the activities as they unfold, and reviewing the documentation that comes out of them. A big part of what I do is making sure everything meets quality standards and regulatory requirements.
I spend time evaluating the clinical data we collect, and I make it a priority to stay current with international guidelines and regulations since they're constantly evolving. What I really enjoy about the work is the collaborative aspect - I'm regularly working with colleagues across different Hikma sites, plus we partner with external parties throughout the clinical trial process. It keeps things dynamic and ensures we're bringing together the best expertise for each study.
3. What are the key challenges and opportunities in your role?
What I like most about clinical research is that I'm constantly learning something new. Every study brings its own unique challenges, so I'm always developing new skills and expanding my knowledge base. The collaborative nature really appeals to me too - working with contract research organisations, clinical sites, and investigators means I'm building relationships with people across the entire industry.
But beyond the professional growth, there's something deeply fulfilling about knowing that the work we do directly impacts patients' lives. We're helping to bring alternative treatment options to market that could genuinely improve someone's health outcomes - that's truly valuable.
Of course, with that comes real responsibility. Patient safety is always our top priority, and ensuring data accuracy and regulatory compliance means you have to be detail-oriented and stay vigilant. You're constantly making decisions that matter, so you need to be proactive and think several steps ahead.
4. How would you describe working at Hikma?

What's been particularly valuable is getting to work alongside some truly inspiring leaders and experts. The culture at Hikma is really focused on innovation and quality - it pushes everyone to do their best work and keep improving.
