In Jordan, around 400 Hikma employees enthusiastically participated in the volunteering day for the fourth year in a row by partnering with the King Hussein Cancer Foundation (KHCF) and Center (KHCC) in order to help raise awareness about cancer, prevention methods and ways to provide the best cancer care and treatment for all cancer patients.

The voluntary activities included:

  • Setting up a blood drive for donation at Hikma headquarters in Amman as well as donating at the blood bank at KHCC.
  • Renovating and painting the children’s summer camp area at KHCC.
  • In cooperation with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN), KHCC female survivors were invited to Wild Jordan for a documentary viewing screened by RSCN. Survivors were also given small gifts and offered breakfast and a center tour.
  • Visiting 22 health centers and distributing informative leaflets about the Jordan Breast Cancer Program Hotline Number in eastern and western Amman. This activity aimed at spreading awareness on the program’s hotline that can be reached for information about breast cancer or any other inquiries.

Also, nutritionists from KHCC offered informative lectures for employees in APM, Salt, and  in Hikma Pharmaceuticals, Amman, to focus on the issue of cancer prevention, and two SANAD volunteers showcased cancer survivor stories.

HRH Princess Dina Mired, Director General of KHCF, expressed her appreciation and gratitude for this continuous cooperation with Hikma Pharmaceuticals which started four years ago. Princess Dina also emphasized on the essential role of voluntary work in supporting the foundation’s mission in fighting cancer, stating that the battle against cancer needs the solidarity of all society, and that no single party can achieve this mission on its own.

Mr Osama Ghunaim, Quality Control Manager at Hikma (APIs) and a Hikma volunteer stated: “By participating in this day’s activities I was given the chance to learn more about cancer, its patients and behaviors to avoid and how to treat this disease. Such activities opened our eyes to the importance of moral support to cancer patients and the benefits of having people understand more about this disease”.

Ms. Rasha ِAl-Shaqarin, Hikma’s CR Coordinator, stated, “Every year Hikma premises around the world take the opportunity to give back to the community by organizing a Global Volunteering Day. We get the chance to make an impact in our home country and in all the main communities we operate in. This is a key part of our CR plan and we look forward to it every year.”
