“Ensuring that our products are available and accessible to those that need them is the essence of our brand promise and has been our purpose for the past 40 years,” said Said Darwazah, Hikma’s Executive Chairman. “Our vision is for a healthier world and we are very proud to be embarking on this important partnership with Direct Relief to help both their network of community clinics and pharmacies in the US, as well as providing critical medical care to refugees in Jordan.”

The new partnership with Direct Relief will support Direct Relief’s network of safety-net providers, and will include the donation of financial resources, pharmaceuticals, technology, training, and volunteerism.

In the US, the focus will be on supporting Direct Relief’s network of community health centers, clinics, and pharmacies who cater to the underinsured and uninsured needing acute and chronic medical care.  Over 25 million Americans in medically underserved areas receive healthcare at one of over 10,000 US community health center and clinic sites.  The Hikma partnership will focus on supporting these safety net providers in states where the majority of Hikma’s US employees live and work - Ohio, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

In Jordan, this program will enable Hikma and Direct Relief to provide essential medicines, supplies, and other resources to support those residing in the country’s refugee camps.  Direct Relief has decades of experience in assisting refugee populations and has numerous vetted partners within Jordan that conduct medical outreaches and support the healthcare needs of the refugee population.  Direct Relief will also provide a telemedicine unit to support physicians when difficult cases are presented.

“We are thrilled to partner with Hikma on these important initiatives. Hikma’s commitment and support for the coming four years, paired with the donation of medicines for chronic and acute conditions, expertise and volunteerism, will make a tremendous difference in the lives of people who have limited access to the health services,” said Thomas Tighe, CEO of Direct Relief. “Hikma’s long-standing record of supporting and giving back to communities in need is admirable, and it is a privilege to work with them to extend this legacy of humanitarian service.”
