Improving access to essential healthcare across the Middle East
Hikma reinforces its commitment to improving access to healthcare by supporting vulnerable communities across the Middle East. Through close partnerships with ministries of health, NGOs, and humanitarian organisations, Hikma has expanded its donation programmes to ensure that essential medicines reach patients affected by conflict, chronic illness, and limited healthcare services. In 2025, these efforts spanned Jordan, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, and Saudi Arabia, reflecting Hikma’s purpose of putting better health within reach, every day.
In Jordan, Hikma strengthened its collaboration with Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), donating 22,038 units of essential medicines to support three Palestinian refugee camps across the country. The donation included treatments for infections, allergies, gastrointestinal conditions, pain relief, respiratory symptoms, and chronic diseases, ensuring that patients in underserved camps had consistent access to the medications they need. Hikma also partnered with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) to support community health activities in Jerash Governorate, donating 270 units of medicines as part of an ongoing health awareness programme that serves families with limited access to specialised care.
Despite extremely challenging circumstances in Gaza, Hikma remained committed to supporting patients living with chronic and life threatening conditions. Working with JHCO, Hikma donated 2,640 units of Defirox to ensure continuity of care for thalassemia patients—a population heavily reliant on regular treatment. This contribution provided vital support at a time when access to essential medicines in Gaza remains severely restricted.
In Lebanon, Hikma responded to ongoing medical shortages by donating 300 packages of Karboteen and 100 units of Papillio to the Ministry of Public Health, along with an additional 300 units of Karboteen to the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). These contributions helped cover treatment gaps amid economic strain and increased demand for essential medicines.
Hikma’s humanitarian support expanded substantially in Syria through a series of large-scale shipments delivered in partnership with JHCO. The first shipment included 234,427 units of critical medicines, followed by a second donation of 152,168 units, covering antibiotics, paediatric suspensions, gastrointestinal treatments, pain relievers, respiratory medicines, and emergency-care injectables. Later in the year, Hikma delivered a specialised shipment valued at over $1.1 million to the Syrian Ministry of Health, consisting of oncology and immunology medicines, biologics, and ICU-support treatments to address severe shortages in advanced therapeutic areas.
In Sudan, where ongoing conflict has placed immense pressure on the healthcare system, Hikma donated 137,737 units of essential and emergency medicines. These included antibiotics, antifungal treatments, anti-nausea injectables, critical-care medicines, paediatric treatments, and neurology therapies supplied to the Sudanese Federal Ministry of Health to help address shortages and support medical facilities.
Hikma’s commitment to improving access to care also extended to KSA, where Hikma KSA supported cancer patients across the Kingdom by donating essential oncology medicines. The donation included 560 units of Sotira, 200 units of Renis, 50 units of Abremia, and 100 units of Veelbore. These medicines were provided to Modawat Association, which supports patients with multiple sclerosis, chronic diseases, and hereditary blood disorders, and to Ahyaha Association for Cancer Patients Care, which serves individuals living with cancer. Through this initiative, Hikma helped ensure that patients facing high treatment costs or financial barriers could access vital therapies during their most critical moments.
Through these combined efforts, Hikma reaffirmed its long standing commitment to social responsibility and health equity across the region. By working with trusted partners and responding quickly to humanitarian and medical needs, Hikma continues to strengthen access to high quality treatments and support the well being of communities facing hardship. These initiatives reflect Hikma’s enduring purpose: providing better health within reach, every day.
