Each day in thousands of hospitals and critical care clinics around the world, sterile injectable medicines play an essential role in helping healthcare practitioners provide necessary treatments to millions of patients. At Hikma, we are proud of the important role we play in manufacturing and providing a significant number of affordable, high-quality injectable medicines to many of these hospitals, to treat a growing number of illnesses and conditions.

Our Injectables business, with its extensive portfolio, advanced manufacturing operations, and strong global commercial reach, is making these important medicines more available and affordable than ever before. In the US, we are a top-three supplier of generic injectables[1] and our portfolio over the last decade has grown from around 50 products to more than 130.

 In the Middle East and North Africa, we are reinforcing our strong commercial presence with local manufacturing operations, reducing supply chain complexities and providing local hospitals with direct and rapid access to essential medicines. We are currently constructing two new manufacturing facilities in Morocco and Algeria, with unique technologies and extensive capabilities. And similarly, in Europe, where we manufacture more than half of our products, we are investing significantly in expanding our manufacturing capacities and adding new products to our already large portfolio, while simultaneously expanding our commercial presence to new markets in various European countries.

 Our ability to provide our customers with a consistent supply of sterile injectable products is a key differentiator for our business. Eight of Hikma’s 32 manufacturing plants across the US, Europe and MENA are dedicated to sterile injectables. Our commitment to manufacturing flexibility gives us the ability to respond quickly to emergent situations, such as drug shortages, and provide health care providers and patients with high-quality medicines when they most urgently need them. For example, during the pandemic, our agility enabled us to supply hospitals with a range of anaesthetics, pain medicines, sedatives and anti-infectives needed to treat the most seriously ill COVID-19 patients.

 We also have a relentless commitment to quality. Every year, a significant portion of our capital expenditure goes towards maintenance and the upgrading of our equipment to the latest technologies available in drug manufacturing, inspection and testing. This ensures the medicines we deliver are consistently of the highest quality. Our skilled and talented manufacturing teams are continuously trained and qualified on manufacturing procedures, industry trends, and current Good Manufacturing Practices performed under comprehensive Quality Systems using advanced information management and documentation technologies. It is this quality mindset, alongside our broad portfolio, which enables us to sustain and grow our leading market positions. 

 Expanding our portfolio of injectable medicines is a key part of our growth strategy. We achieve this through our internal R&D as well as through targeted M&A, selective partnerships, and expansion into adjacent businesses. Examples of this include our recent acquisition of Teligent Canada, and the acquisition of Custopharm in the US, as well as our partnerships to commercialise key speciality products in different markets, including biosimilars.

We have also launched a new sterile injectable compounding business based in Dayton, New Jersey, leveraging our manufacturing expertise and existing supply chain to provide hospitals with high-quality, ready to administer compounded medicines. All these initiatives support our commitment to growth and to remain a key provider to hospital and critical care needs.

قدرات الحكمة العالمية في قطاع أدوية المحاقين تتيح الوصول إلى الأدوية المهمة

تؤدي أدوية المحاقين دوراً أساسياً في تمكين كوادر الرعاية الصحية ومؤسساتها من توفير العلاجات اللازمة لملايين المرضى يومياً في آلاف المستشفيات وعيادات العناية المركّزة والرعاية الحرجة حول العالم. ونحن فخورون بالدور المهم الذي نؤديه في الحكمة في مجال تصنيع وتوفير عدد كبير من أدوية المحاقين عالية الجودة وبأسعار معقولة للعديد من هذه المستشفيات لعلاج المزيد من الأمراض.

يعمل قطاع أدوية المحاقين لدينا على إتاحة هذه الأدوية المهمة بأسعار بالمتناول أكثر من أي وقت مضى، وذلك من خلال محفظتنا الواسعة والمتنوعة من المنتجات، وعمليات التصنيع المتقدمة لدينا، وانتشارنا التجاري العالمي القوي. وتُعدّ شركة الحكمة من أكبر ثلاثة مورّدين للمحاقين الجنيسة1 في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وقد نمت محفظتنا على مدار العقد الماضي من حوالي 50 منتجاً إلى أكثر من 130 منتجاً.

أمّا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، فنعمل على تعزيز حضورنا التجاري القوي من خلال عمليات التصنيع المحلية، وتقليل تعقيدات عمليات سلسلة التوريد، وتزويد المستشفيات المحلية بالأدوية الأساسية والضرورية بشكل مباشر وسريع، كما أنّنا نبني حالياً منشأتين جديدتين للتصنيع في كلٍ من المغرب والجزائر بتقنيات فريدة وقدرات متقدمة، ونستثمر بشكل كبير في توسيع قدراتنا التصنيعية وإضافة منتجات جديدة إلى محفظتنا الكبيرة بالأساس في أوروبا؛ حيث أننا نقوم بتصنيع أكثر من نصف منتجاتنا مع رؤية طموحة هادفة لتوسيع حضورنا التجاري لدخول أسواق جديدة في البلدان الأوروبية الأخرى في الوقت نفسه.

تُعدّ قدرتنا على تزويد عملائنا بإمدادات ثابتة من منتجات المحاقين المعقمة أحد العوامل الرئيسية التي تميّز أعمالنا؛ إذ يختص ثمانية من أصل 32 مصنعاً تابعاً للحكمة في أنحاء الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وأوروبا والشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا في إنتاج المحاقين المعقمة. ويمنحنا التزامنا بمرونة التصنيع القدرة على الاستجابة بسرعة للحالات الطارئة كنقص الأدوية، وتزويد مقدمي الرعاية الصحية والمرضى بأدوية عالية الجودة وهم في أمس الحاجة إليها. فعلى سبيل المثال، استطعنا بفضل مرونتنا خلال جائحة كوفيد-19 تزويد المستشفيات بمجموعة من أدوية التخدير وتسكين الألم والمهدئات ومضادات العدوى اللازمة لعلاج الحالات الحرجة من الإصابة بالفيروس.

وإضافة إلى ذلك، فإنّنا نحرص دائماً على الالتزام التام بأعلى معايير الجودة. ففي كل عام، يُخصّص جزء كبير من نفقاتنا الرأسمالية لصيانة معداتنا وفحصها واختبارها وترقيتها بما يواكب أحدث التقنيات المتاحة في مجال تصنيع الأدوية لضمان الاستمرار في تحقيق أعلى معايير الجودة للأدوية التي نقدمها، كما يتم تدريب فرق التصنيع الماهرة والموهوبة وتأهيلها باستمرار على التوجهات في الصناعة والممارسات التصنيعية الجيدة (Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)) التي يتم تطبيقها وفق أنظمة الجودة الشاملة باستخدام تقنيات متطورة في إدارة المعلومات وتوثيقها. ومن خلال التزامنا بأعلى معايير الجودة ومحفظتنا الواسعة والمتنامية؛ تمكنّا من المحافظة على مكانتنا الرائدة في السوق وتنميتها.

يُعد توسيع محفظتنا من أدوية المحاقين جزءاً أساسياً من استراتيجيتنا في النمو، ونحقق ذلك من خلال البحث والتطوير الداخلي وعمليات الدمج والاستحواذ المستهدفة والشراكات النوعية والتوسع في الأعمال القريبة من مجالاتنا. ومن الأمثلة على ذلك، استحوذنا مؤخراً على Teligent Canada، وCustopharm في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، بالإضافة إلى شراكاتنا الاستراتيجية لتسويق المنتجات المتخصصة الرئيسية في أسواق مختلفة، بما يشمل البدائل الحيوية.

وقد أطلقنا أيضاً وحدة أعمال لمركبات المحاقين، ومقرها في دايتون بولاية نيوجيرسي الأمريكية؛ مستفيدين من خبرتنا الواسعة في التصنيع وسلسلة التوريد القائمة لتزويد المستشفيات بالأدوية المركبة الجاهزة عالية الجودة. وتدعم هذه المبادرات التزامنا بالنمو والاستمرار بوصفنا مزوداً رئيسياً لاحتياجات المستشفيات واحتياجات الرعاية الحرجة.
