Case Study, Sustainability, Goal 3: Good health and well-being, Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth

We organise volunteering opportunities for employees at all our major locations, enabling our people to take a hands-on approach to serving their communities.

2018 marked the tenth year of our global ‘We are Hikma’ campaign, which focuses on spreading employee awareness about health and safety issues and the importance of community engagement and environmental stewardship at all of our locations.

Activities across our sites vary based on local needs and include awareness lectures, blood drives and fire safety tutorials.

In our US locations, we hosted our first ‘household hazardous waste takeback day,’ helping our employees safely dispose of 4,000 pounds (1,814 kg) of potentially harmful substances, including pesticides, paints and electronic waste. Across many of our other locations, we provided free medical testing and blood drives, and worked with public bodies to provide firefighting training to our employees. We also held sessions on first aid treatment and reducing energy consumption.

Hikma Volunteering Day

Every year since 2008, we have organised a Hikma Volunteering Day as an opportunity for our people to support their communities. During the campaign, volunteers across Hikma work alongside members of their communities to support local schools, health centres and other institutions.

Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

Early detection is essential for the effective treatment of breast cancer and our Group-wide Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign focuses on education and testing for our employees and our broader communities. With a comprehensive approach to awareness raising, including establishing testing booths and spreading information through social media, we aim to raise awareness about the value of early detection and treatment.
