Hikma launches cancer awareness campaign

Amman, 23 February 2016 – Hikma Pharmaceuticals, the fast growing multinational pharmaceutical group, launched its cancer awareness campaign in February in support of World Cancer Day (WCD). Throughout the month, the campaign activities raised awareness on cancer prevention and treatment among its employees and community. Taking place every year on 4 February, WCD is the singular initiative under which the whole world unites in the fight against cancer.

Hikma took part in WCD through the ‘Talking Hands’ social media campaign, which sought to spread the key messages of the WCD 2016-2018 tagline ‘We can. I can.’  Employees wrote their unique supportive messages of what they can do to combat cancer, and their pictures were published on Hikma’s social media channels and the WCD Wall of Support. Furthermore, the Company hosted two cancer survivors, who shared their personal experiences and inspirational stories on how they overcame the disease. Hikma also invited Consultant, Hematologist and Medical Oncologist, Dr. Salah Abbasi, for an educational lecture for employees.

“Currently, more than eight million people die of cancer worldwide each year. In line with WCD’s efforts to combat cancer, we launched our cancer awareness campaign, continuing our mission of improving people’s lives,” said Hana Darwazeh Ramadan, Vice President of Corporate Communication at Hikma Pharmaceuticals.

Meanwhile in Algeria, Hikma and its subsidiary, Al Dar Al Arabia Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company, hosted an oncology specialist to speak to employees about how best to prevent and combat breast cancer.
