Hikma Organizes 10th Annual Global Volunteering Campaign

Amman, May 2018 – Demonstrating its steadfast commitment to upholding its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (Hikma, Group) (LSE: HIK) (NASDAQ Dubai: HIK) (OTC: HKMPY) (rated Ba1 Moody’s / BB+ S&P, both stable), the multinational generic pharmaceutical company, organized a number of community service activities globally, as part of their 10th annual Global Volunteering Day, during the months of April and May. The annual volunteering campaign was organized at various locations across the globe, in which Hikma operates, including the US and several MENA countries, with the participation of over 400 employees.

In Jordan, Hikma employees focused on the theme of health and wellbeing, in partnership with the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) and Tkiyet Um Ali. Employees participated in the painting and renovation of homes of the underprivileged, and engaged with young students from public schools in physical activities that focused on the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Hana Darwazah Ramadan, Hikma Vice President of Corporate Communication, said, “We have long adhered to our Global Volunteering Day, which we commemorate at Hikma’s main manufacturing facilities worldwide, and this year has been no different. In addition to spreading a culture of community service among our employees, whether it's with a bucket of paint, a helping hand or time spent with young, vivacious school students, we are determined to play our part in supporting and empowering the communities in which we operate across the globe.”

Meanwhile, in Algeria, the theme merged the environment as well as health, through a ‘plogging’ event (a combination of jogging and picking up litter), with a local waste recycling company. As for Tunisia, Hikma employees concentrated on health and public renovation by working with the Hôpital Mohamed El Kassab Tunisia. The employees painted the outer walls of the hospital, in addition to donating books and toys to a children's library at a pediatric physiotherapy service unit, and planting and enhancing the landscape of the hospital’s garden.

In Egypt, staff dedicated their efforts towards health and the environment as well, by planting over 50 trees. They also raised funds, which were donated to the Children's Cancer Hospital, in addition to organizing a blood donation drive.

In the U.S., several campaigns took place in a variety of locations. Hikma’s employees volunteered their time with a Retirement and Rehab Center.  they also offered their time and services and helped with a roadside litter clean-up. In addition, they partnered with a Family and Children's Services center and a food bank, and funds were raised to conduct a food drive and to buy books to support the Reading Buddies program, in which volunteers go to local schools to read to students from the pre-Kindergarten level to the second grade. Hikma’s employees also collaborated and fundraised with the American Heart Association. They wore the color red on the national day for Women's Heart Health, and the proceeds went to the American Heart Association for the benefit of their educational programs.
