Hikma is an active player in the international arena of global welfare and ethics and we are engaged in a number of global initiatives that bring about action and change.
UN Global Compact
Hikma is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), signifying our commitment to aligning operations with the UNGC’s ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.
Hikma has been submitting a Communication on Progress report (COP) since 2007, ensuring an active membership in the Global Compact, a UN-sponsored initiative for businesses committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. For further reading, the COP can be found on our website and on www.unglobalcompact.org.
World Economic Forum (WEF)
As a Healthcare Industry Partner of the WEF, Hikma engages with an exclusive network of 40 healthcare industry leaders to shape the future of health industries in a strategic and socially responsible way. Hikma is committed to helping communities boost their resilience and adaptability to societal, political and commercial changes, which is a vision propagated through our partnership with the WEF.
Hikma Pharmaceuticals is a member of the FTSE4Good Index series and continues to meet the FTSE index inclusion criteria for 2016. The FTSE4Good is the pioneering global responsible investment index designed to identify companies that demonstrate strong Environmental, Social and Governance practices (ESG) measured against globally recognized standards.
Partnering Against Corruption Initiative
Hikma is also one of the founding members of the Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI), an offshoot of the WEF. PACI is a business-driven global initiative that seeks to fight bribery and corruption. PACI participants commit to zero tolerance of bribery and the successful implementation of a programme to fight bribery and corruption.
Hikma continues working to promote responsible business through collective action, working together with business entities, organisations and civil society to promote ethical conduct. Hikma is part of the B20 (Business 20) Anti-corruption Working Group (ACWG), which operates under the umbrella of the G20 international forum of governments. The ACWG has a range of different work streams that handle transparency in procurement and other areas. Hikma is actively involved in these work streams. The B20 ACWG launches different projects to help manage one of the biggest challenges companies face all over the world: corruption. Our zero-tolerance to bribery and corruption and our experience with governing our ethical practices make up an essential contribution to the initiatives.
Carbon Disclosure Project
As a global manufacturer, we are highly aware of our impact on the environment. As part of our adherence to sustainability, we report climate change data to the Carbon Disclosure Project so as to increase our transparency to our stakeholders and manage both risks and opportunities arising from climate change. The CDP expertly scrutinises a company’s carbon emissions and provides analysis for better operational functioning. Participating companies are scored on two parallel assessment schemes: performance and disclosure. Our Global Climate Change Report is available for viewing.
