Trust is the essence of every brand and, in the pharmaceutical industry, this depends on the ability to deliver products of a consistently high standard. For more than 25 years our focus on quality has earned our ‘own brand’ generics a high reputation and encouraged numerous multinationals to turn to us to manufacture and market their branded pharmaceuticals, under ‘in-licensing’ agreements.
Most of our branded products are sold in the MENA region, where branded pharmaceuticals - both generics and patented - dominate the market. Our biggest markets are Algeria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. We also sell branded pharmaceuticals in Europe.
Our branded business sells 83 solid, semi-solid and liquid products in 185 dosage strengths and forms. Our core strengths lie in the anti-infective, immunomodulating agent, musculoskeletal and, increasingly, cardiovascular therapeutic categories. Since 1995, we have received over 600 marketing approvals for branded pharmaceuticals in Europe and the MENA region and over 30 new products are under development.
Our 437-strong sales and marketing team is one of the largest in the MENA region, enabling us to build close relationships with key stakeholders and optimise the commercial potential of the products we market.
We have over 2,000 customers in the MENA region. The size of our customer base is not only a testament to the quality of our products and marketing, it also reduces the commercial risks of being overly dependent on a single customer or group of customers.
Branded pharmaceuticals are manufactured at our facilities in Jordan - all certified by the FDA and MHRA, as well as at our FDA approved facility in Saudi Arabia and our new plant in Algeria.
We believe that our strong presence in the MENA Region makes us an attractive partner for multinational pharmaceutical companies seeking access to this region. Currently, the Branded business sells 20 under-licensed products. Seven of these licences are from Astellas Pharma with whom we entered into our first licence agreement in 1979. The Branded business also has a further five under-licensed products pending launch.
